TV Stars Who Didn’t Get Success In B-town.


Exploration of future opportunities and moving ahead with changing times has been a mantra for any field. Be it a job, acting, or any other field, there is always a scope for both improvements and moving ahead to a better stature. Following similar lines, this has also been prevalent in the Television industry.

While there have been numerous stars who achieved more heights in the industry, tried their hands on featuring on the big screens.


While some of them became stars, the others were not able to reach heights and failed miserably. While popular actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan, and Sushant Singh Rajput were able to establish a good career and position in the industry, there have been some Television artists who could not bag the attention of the audiences and either left the industry or went back to small screens.

So today, with this post, we have listed down the names of some of the popular TV actors who failed to establish a career on the silver screen. Let’s have a look:

(1) Shruti Seth – Fanaa


The famous Television series “Shararat” has been one of the popular and loved shows for the 90s kids that has been responsible for making our childhood awesome! Right!? While there were various other actors in the series, one of the most loved characters from this serial happened to be its lead actress, Shruti Seth.

She portrayed the role of Jiya in the series and became quite popular amongst Indian audiences. While she remains popular amongst the audiences as a host and an actress to various other television shows.


The actress tried her luck by appearing in supporting roles in blockbuster films like Fanna and Rajneeti but failed to cast her magic on the audiences and was not seen in any movie thereafter.

(2) Aman Verma – Baghban


Khulja Sim Sim, yes, the popular television actor Aman Verma grabbed the attention of audiences with his performance in the popular daily soap opera, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

With being a host to various TV shows and appearing in various serials, while the actor was at the peak of his career, he decided to move a step forward and stepped into the Bollywood industry.


In 2003, the actor bagged a role in the blockbuster film, Baghban. While he brilliantly portrayed the main character in the film, he could not bag much attention. Despite this, the actor did not lose hopes and was seen in various other films along with serials, but could not get a firm career in the Bollywood industry. 

(3) Manish Paul – Mickey Virus


The actor, anchor, and host Manish Paul has been one of the most loved anchors of all time. Apart from being a host to various shows like Dance India Dance Li’l Masters, Comedy Circus Ka Jadoo, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa installments, etc. the actor has also been an anchor to the great show like Science of Stupid, telecasted on the National Geographic channel.


Despite being one of the most loved actors of the television industry, the actor stepped into the Bollywood industry with the film Mickey Virus but failed to make his career in the industry.

He also worked in various other films like Ranbanka, Tere Bin Laden 2, Baa Baaa Black Sheep, etc. but was not able to make it big in the Bollywood industry. 

(4) Amar Upadhyay – LOC Kargil


The only thing we remember after seeing the photo of this popular Television actor is the name Mihir! Amar became a household name after his work in the popular daily soap opera, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Though he worked and gave brilliant performances on the small screens, his magic could not lure the audiences on the big screens.

The actor became a part of Bollywood movies like Dhund: The Fog, LOC Kargil, Dahshat, etc. but was not able to make it big in the industry. 

(5) Gurmeet Choudhary – Khamoshiyan


This charming personality has surely been a Television crush for many of us! Right!? Well, while he possessed every characteristic of becoming a good actor right from looks to acting skills, the actor was not able to make a good career in the Bollywood industry.

The actor made a debut in Bollywood in 2015 with the film Khamoshiyan however was not able to gain much success. Post this, he has only been seen in 3 to 4 movies so far that is Wajah Tum Ho, Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana, Paltan, and the upcoming ZEE5 originals film, The Wife.

(6) Rajiv Khandelwal – Aamir


The Television actor Rajiv Khandelwal gained prominence after his lead role in the serial, Kahiin To Hoga back in 2002. Though he appeared in 2 other shows before this, his character as Sujal Garewal made him a star overnight. A recipient of various awards, this actor is not only a talented actor but a singer and a television host as well.


After capturing the attention of people with numerous Television shows, the actor stepped into the Bollywood industry with the film, Aamir in 2008. Though the actor became a part of various other movies like Shaitan, Aamir, Table No.21, Peter Gaya Kaam Se, etc. However, he was not able to establish a good career in the Bollywood industry. 

(7) Aamna SharifEk Villain


Another Kahiin to Hoga serial famed actress Aamna Sharif began her career in 2002 with a role in a Tamil film named Junction. After this, the actress got a chance to be a part of the popular daily soap opera, Kahiin to Hoga in 2003. And after working for 4 long years on this serial, in 2009, the actress decided to try her hands on the Bollywood industry.


She appeared as a lead in the movie Aloo Chaat followed by the movie Aao Wish Karein which was released the same year. However, after a couple of flops, the actress failed to establish a good career. However, her notable performance in the movie Ek Villain and serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 remains one of her best works to date.
